ANNE EGAN
MAKING MYSTERY. My paintings can begin anywhere- from inspirations arising from the natural world, manufactured forms or the human form, that is the first step. It is the process of painting that truly engages me- the dialogue that develops between me and the materials in hand, the surface of the work, a change in light, a fascination with a texture, a memory or photograph or an emotional response to music. When the process flows into mystery, and there are no longer any major disturbing elements, the painting may be finished.
