"BUTTONS" ARCHELLE WOLST

Archelle is an oil painter primarily known for her portraits and still-lifes.  Her painting style is loose.  Her composition is strong.  She simplifies shapes while defining form with a richly muted palette…sometimes with a pop of color.  Her portraits project life – the mood, the heart, the attitude of her subject.  Lately she has included canines and considers them portraits of equal interest.  Her still-lifes are of flowers, fruits and favorite objects.  They feature bold, “brushy” strokes in lush colors, shapes and form.  As she likes to create hand-made cards for family and friends, that has become an added delight.
