David Nielsen
The basic shapes…the circle, the square, the triangle, as well as the straight or curved line…are the foundation for how we make a connection between the physical world that appears to us through sight and our desire to find meaning, both intellectual and emotional, in experience
From the earliest cave paintings through cubism and even pop art, artists have found ways to imbue even the most mundane objects with a deeper relevance and intimacy to the viewer using nothing more than the simplest scratches or strokes of a brush. My work both honors and advances an approach to art as old as mankind itself, and breaks down both concrete images of the human form and abstract representations of the environment around us to their most primitive, and at the same time most universal, elements.
