Archelle "Buttons" Wolst
Archelle “Buttons” Wolst is a long-time oil painter known for portraits. She has recently started exploring gouache. Her painting style is loose, as she simplifies shapes and defines compositions. She gathers what is around her for still-lifes, whether they be objects in her home or the bounty of beauty in Door County.
She also makes greeting cards, incorporating painting, hand-made papers and her own cut-foam print-making impressions. Her cards can be personalized for special occasions.
She signs her paintings with her given name, Archelle, while her original, one-of-a-kind greeting cards are signed Buttons, a childhood nickname.
She received a BFA and MFA from Carnegie-Mellon University
