MICHAEL DOERR
Because the tree once lived, every cutting of new wood is dynamic – a challenge to combine the best flow of grain and stability and so honor the beauty and life of the tree. The patron and the workman then become partners in this unique and timeless relationship simply called craft. -Michael A. Doerr
Michael started his woodworking career in 1977 as a wooden shipwright, apprenticing under Master Ferdinand (Red) Nimphius, building world-class wooden sailboats. During this time he learned the ability to form and curve wood. Using this experience, Michael taught himself the skills needed in furniture making and created an original line of handcrafted sculptural chairs and furniture. Over the years, he has built a national and international clientele base
